The Project is in an area in Escazu with a privileged view of the city. One of the main design challenges was that the property was composed of two slopes and a narrow terrace in the middle. With the objective of using the space in the best way possible, we designed a retention wall the run through the house, creating a wider terrace that opens to the city view and on the other side, generates a second terrace in the second level that provides the house with a second more private garden near the bedrooms.
The house is oriented in the northeast direction, so the main façade opens to the morning light and the posterior facade that is only one story high, is the one exposed to the afternoon sunlight, allowing the house to remain cool through the year without compromising the access to natural light to all the spaces.
The volumetry of the house follows simple and clean lines, that are combined with variations in materials and textures, giving more character to the house. The combination of light, shadows and reflections from the water elements, allow the spaces to chance during the day, giving the house a dynamic quality.
